Steven Oleksy was born on February 4, 1986 in Chesterfield, Michigan. Steven plays defense for the Anaheim Ducks, having signed a new 2 Year contract on July 1, 2017 after splitting the 2016-17 Season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins organizations. Steve began his career in both the ECHL and the AHL before signing his first NHL contract as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Capitals on March 4, 2013. In his National Hockey League debut on March 5, 2013, he registered his first career point, an assist, against the Boston Bruins. On July 1, 2015, Steve signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins, helping the team win a Stanley Cup in the 2015-16 season. Recently, Steve was traded back to the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he spent the remainder of the 2018-19 season. In 2019-20, Steve signed with the Detroit Red Wings organization and skated with the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) before signing a contract with Linz EHC in the Austrian Pro League to finish out the season.

What advice would you give to future professional hockey players? 

If you don’t believe in yourself no one else will.  The only thing you can control is your attitude and work ethic.

Continuing to build Eastside Elite Hockey as well as other business ventures.
