Lightning re-sign Brian Elliott to a one-year contract

TAMPA BAY, FL – The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed goaltender Brian Elliott to a one-year contract through the 2022-23 season worth $900,000, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.

Elliott initially signed a one-year contract as a free agent prior to the 2021-22 season and in his first season with the Lightning has gone 9-3-3 with a 2.23 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in 14 starts and 16 appearances. During his most recent start with the Lightning on April 10 versus Buffalo, Elliott stopped all 28 shots he faced to record his first shutout with Tampa Bay and the 43rd shutout of his career. The Newmarket, Ontario native made his Lightning debut October 25 at Buffalo and earned his first victory as a Bolt November 6 at Ottawa in a 24-of-27 save performance.

Elliott, 36, has appeared in 502 career NHL games over 14 seasons, compiling a record of 256-155-49 to go along with a 2.53 goals-against average and .910 save percentage. The Newmarket, Ontario native played in 30 games last season for the Philadelphia Flyers and posted 15 wins in 26 starts which includes two shutouts. He posted a pair of three-game winning streaks last season with the Flyers.

Brian Elliott gets 40th shutout in Flyers’ win over Wings

DETROIT, MI – Brian Elliott made 16 saves for his 40th career shutout in the Philadelphia Flyers’ 3-0 win over the sinking Detroit Red Wings on Monday night.

It was the Red Wings’ ninth consecutive loss (0-8-1), and the second straight time they’ve been shut out. This is their third losing streak of at least eight games in 2019-20.

Flyers goaltender Brian Elliott named one of the NHL’s “Three Stars”

NEW YORK, NY – Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Brian Elliott has been named one of the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending October 27.

Elliott compiled a 3-0-0 record, 2.02 goals-against average and .933 save percentage in four games to lead the Flyers(5-4-1, 11 points) to a trio of victories. He turned aside 33 shots in a 6-2 triumph over the Vegas Golden Knights Oct. 21, made 23 saves in a 4-1 win against the Chicago Blackhawks Oct. 24 and stopped 22 pucks in a 7-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets Oct. 26. Elliott then denied all 19 shots he faced in a relief effort in a 5-3 loss to the New York Islanders Oct. 27. The 34-year-old Newmarket, Ont., native has made six total appearances this season, going 3-1-0 with a 2.28 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.

Elliott Named NHL’s Second Star of the Week for Back to Back NHL Honors

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The National Hockey League announced today that Flyers goaltender Brian Elliott has been named the Second Star of the Week.

Elliott posted another perfect 3-0-0 week from Dec. 11-17 and recorded a 1.31 goals-against average and .943 save percentage in the process. He allowed just four total goals in wins over Toronto, Buffalo and Dallas stopping 66 of 70 shots he faced, which includes stopping all 27 shots he faced in third periods and one overtime session during the week.

He began the week by stopping 20 of 22 shots against the visiting Maple Leafs and followed that up two days later with 19 saves vs. Buffalo which included no goals in the second and third period to hang onto a 2-1 victory against the Sabres.

He capped the week off by shutting down the high-powered Dallas Stars offense, stopping all 17 shots he faced after the first period, including all four in the overtime for another 2-1 Flyers win.

Elliott Named NHL’s Third Star of the Week

Philadelphia, PA – The National Hockey League announced today that Flyers goaltender Brian Elliott has been named the Third Star of the Week.

Elliott recorded a perfect 3-0-0 mark as the team faced a tough, Western Canadian road trip that saw them play three games in four nights. He posted a .954 save percentage and 1.66 goals-against average on the week after stopping 103 out of 108 shots, including 28 saves on 29 shots he saw in third periods.

“It’s great to be recognized, but whenever you get those recognitions as a goalie it shows how the group has been playing, especially this last week,” said Elliott. “It’s my name up there, but definitely the Philadelphia Flyers whole team deserves that.”
