EDMONTON – The Oilers have signed forward Grayson Downing to a one-year deal. The 25-year-old centre has played 120 AHL games, scoring 28 goals and adding 42 assists and 43 penalty minutes.
Downing played four years at the University of New Hampshire after completing his BCHL career with the Westside Warriors.
TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed goaltender Garret Sparks to a two-year contract with an annual average value of $675,000, the team announced on Saturday.
EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Jujhar Khaira to a two-year contract extension.
Khaira, 22, appeared in 10 games with the Oilers in 2016-17, posting one goal, two penalty minutes and a plus one rating. In 25 career NHL games he has recorded three points (1G, 2A) and 15 penalty minutes.
Khaira became the third player of Punjabi Indian descent to score a goal in the NHL, after Robin Bawa and half-French, half-Indian Manny Malhotra.
TORONTO – Calle Rosen agreed to terms on a two-year, entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

LAS VEGAS – The Vegas Golden Knights have agreed to a three-year, entry-level deal with 15th overall pick Erik Brannstrom.
The 17-year-old defenceman from Eksjo, Sweden played for HV 71 in the Swedish Hockey League last season and won a championship with the club.
He contributed six points in 35 games for HV 71 in 2016-17. Brannstrom was also a member of Team Sweden at the 2016 World Under-18 Championship and won a silver medal.
DETROIT — The Detroit Red Wings have signed defenseman Robbie Russo to a two-year contract.
It’s a two-way deal. Russo would earn an NHL salary of $650,000 when up with the Red Wings and $125,000 this season and $250,000 next season in the AHL.
ANN ARBOR, MI – C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital patient Sadie Parker and her father Rick were in for quite the surprise when they entered the building’s Michigan Game Day Experience Room on Tuesday.

LAS VEGAS — Erik Brannstrom of the Vegas Golden Knights is 5-foot-10, likes to join the rush and shoot the puck.
So why is the 17-year-old a defenseman and not a center?
“I like to play, and you play more as a ‘D’ than a forward,” Brannstrom said at Golden Knights development camp last month. “I like to play a lot and have the puck and take responsibility out there, so I think it fits me.”
